Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources received the healthy and positive work environment initiative’s team from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, which organised the CHECK programme within the third phase of a healthy and positive work environment initiative for 2019, in order to enable the Directorate’s employees to strengthen and consolidate healthy habits by changing some misconceptions and imparting health supporting skills and information, for two consecutive days at the headquarters of the Directorate in Al-Liya and its branch in Al-Dafin.
The programme included medical examinations for employees, such as blood sugar test, blood pressure test, carbon monoxide test, cholesterol test, body mass test, risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and participation in draws for valuable prizes. The participants were also provided with valuable information such as the importance of drinking plenty of water, exercising and eating healthy food. It also included several cultural activities on the medical awareness related to following a healthy lifestyle and creating a health-supportive environment, encouraging employees to adopt these habits on a permanent basis.
The initiative encourages employees to conduct periodic inspection through the services provided by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
For his part, HH Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadem, Member of Sharjah Executive Council, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, praised this positive initiative that contributes to enhancing the employees’ health culture and its positive impact on the employees and work environment. These initiatives seek to achieve happiness and positivity at work, which is the main objective of the wise government. He also called on all employees to follow a healthy lifestyle based on physical activity and healthy food.
For her part, Dr. Fadila Mohammed Sharif, Director of the Health Education Department at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, said that the healthy and positive work environment initiative has achieved positive results as it has contributed to promoting healthy lifestyles among employees in the government. The initiative is part of the national initiative activities and events “promoting awareness about healthy lifestyles in society”, in line with the Ministry’s strategy to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare in innovative and sustainable manners that ensure prevention from diseases, to improve the results of national indicators for healthy lifestyles in order to achieve the health role targets stated in the national agenda of UAE Vision 2021.
